Teacher Aides/Assistants

We are currently seeking Teacher Aides/Assistants for our Head Start and Early Head Start Programs. The Teacher Aide/Assistant assists Lead Teachers in implementing a developmentally appropriate plan for a group of children, from ages newborn to three years old or ages three to five years old, by providing quality early childhood experiences. Additionally, this position acts as a resource, advisor, and advocate for the parents in the areas of child development, health, education, and community resources. Requirements include a High School Diploma, B.A./B.S. degree ECE or CDA credential preferred or any B.A./B.S. degree with the equivalent training and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Nutrition Aide

We are currently seeking a Nutrition Aide for our Head Start and Early Head Start Programs. The Nutrition Aide is responsible for the overall maintenance of the assigned site kitchens in accordance with Head Start performance standards, State Licensing, and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) regulations. The Nutrition Aide works with the Site Coordinators and classroom staff to support the daily meal service program for all children and volunteers. Weatherization Energy Auditor/Quality Control Inspector

We are currently seeking a Weather Energy Auditor/Quality Control Inspector for the Weatherization Program. The Weatherization Energy Auditor is responsible for supervising the rehabilitation and weatherization of homes in low-income housing. The Quality Control Inspector (QCI) is responsible for ensuring that no energy savings opportunities were missed and that all work was performed to proper standards. Ensures all clients and the work performed are in compliance with all Federal, State, and Agency regulations and guidelines pertaining to the weatherization program. Requirements include a High School diploma or GED; supplemented by three to five years previous experience in carpentry, construction, contracting, home rehabilitation, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Our Benefits

We offer our employees a benefits package designed to help them to grow, personally and professionally, to stay healthy, to prepare for the unexpected, to care for their families and to build a secure future.

BENEFITS INFORMATION:

Hours of Operation: Varies by department, location and position.

Pay Schedule: Employees are paid every two (2) weeks on a Friday (unless a Holiday precedes the payday). We also offer direct deposit to all of our employees at no charge to them.

Insurance: South Central Community Action Program prides itself on offering a wide range of insurance options to its employees. Employees averaging a minimum of 30 hours per week worked are eligible to participate in the organizations health and dental insurance plans. Employees become eligible for insurance the first month following their first 60 days of employment. Insurance options include:

  • Short-term Disability (100% paid by employer)
  • Life Insurance $15,000 policy (100% paid by employer)

South Central Community Action Program, Inc. pays over 75% of the individual’s health insurance premium from SIHO, and pays over 80% of the individual’s Dental & Vision insurance from Guardian.

Personal Business (PBD) and Vacation Days (VD): All employees will start accruing Personal Business and Vacation days from their first day of employment. Personal Business and Vacation days are calculated at a rate of .05 per hours worked.  Example: 75 Hours (worked that pay period) X .05 = 3.75 PBD Hours and 3.75 VD Hours for that pay period.

Holidays: All employees receive the following 14 paid holidays per year: New Years Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Mini Spring Break (Thursday and Friday of MCCSC Spring Break Week), Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Day after Christmas (December 26), and New Years Eve, plus one floating holiday.

Orientation Period: All employees are subject to a 90-day orientation period. Any personal Business Days (PBD) and Vacation Days (VD) that are accumulated during the orientation period cannot be taken until the employee successfully completes the orientation period.

Criminal History: All new employees are required to have a criminal history check. The agency will submit and pay for the criminal check.

Sex Offender Registry: All new employees are required to have a sex offender registry check.

Child Protective Services: All employees in the Head Start and Early Head Start programs are required to have a child protective services check at time of employment and annually there after.

TB Test: Pre-employment and annual TB test and/or screening are required for all employees in the Head Start and Early Head Start program at the agency’s expense.

Drug Testing: Pre-employment drug testing required at the agency’s expense. Tests will be performed at IU Health Occupational Services on West 3rd Street in Bloomington.

Physical Exam: Pre-employment physical exam required for all employees working in the Head Start and Early Head Start program. This is at the employee’s expense. Employees  working in the Transportation Department will require additional physical exams based on Department of Transportation regulations. The additional physicals will be at the employee’s expense.

CPR & First Aide: All new employees are required to have CPR & First Aide training. Anyone not already certified can complete training at the Lindbergh Main Center at the agency’s expense during their first 60 days of employment.
