EnergyBus to promote energy conservation and weatherization
(August 15, 2016)   The EnergyBus, a former Head Start bus owned by the South Central Community Action Program, is a collaborative project of SCCAP and the Monroe County Energy Challenge (MCEC), a broad coalition of community organizations collaborating to reduce energy use.

Apply for Energy Assistance before May 15 deadline!
(April 9, 2015)   If you could use help with your winter heating costs and haven't yet applied for energy assistance, what are you waiting for? To qualify, you must meet income guidelines and reside in Monroe, Brown, Morgan or Owen county.

SCCAP will open on a 2-hour delay on Thursday, 2-19-15. It will open at 10 a.m.
(February 18, 2015)   SCCAP will open at 10 a.m. on Thursday 2-19-15. The two-hour delay is due to extreme cold temperatures. This will allow the temp to rise a little and allow everyone to travel in daylight to work.

Glick Fund awards $25,000 to SCCAP's Growing Opportunities project
(December 4, 2014)   These funds will support the purchase of materials for a second greenhouse for Growing Opportunities, which will expand its capacity to provide job training opportunities to low-income people.

Energy Assistance Program for low-income households to begin on Nov. 3
(October 31, 2014)   SCCAP has received an initial allocation of $2,222,560 in federal funding from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) for energy assistance this winter. SCCAP expects to serve more than 4,000 households this winter.

Job prospects to grow at new SCCAP greenhouse

Sustainability Partnership grant uses lighting to grow indoor garden
(April 23, 2014)   To grow plants indoors, you need to get the right lighting equipment. We were lucky to have the help of experts from Worm’s Way when we purchased our lighting. Running 18 hours on, six hours off to duplicate natural sunlight, these fixtures use 432 watts.
